These works emerged from my impressions and experiences of sailing from Tauranga to the Bay of Islands, New Zealand. Rather than depicting specific and recognisable landmarks, they tend towards an amalgamation of textures, colours and shapes. Some  images represent experiences from islands accessible only by boat, several of which are island bird sanctuaries; some express the wide ranging moods and colours of the sea; some reflect wider views back to the land, while others focus in on small details.
